We have two weeks before everyone can take a well-deserved break to reset and restart in January. Your rest will be necessary for a strong start to the new year. I am happy to share that we partner with the Salvation Army here in Alief to meet the needs of our students during this holiday season. With that being said, time is winding down for you to stop by my office and take advantage of the opportunity to adopt a local student for the holidays. Last year, we took care of more than 100 students. Thanks to Principal Tones and the Alief Kerr Student Council for participating in this annual event. It's a magical feeling to be able to give to someone in need!
Our Portrait of an Alief Graduate shares competencies that we want all of our students to leave Alief ISD having mastered. The first competency is Effective Communicator. I am proud of the work Alief ISD is doing to help our students be strong communicators. The National Speech and Debate Champion is a Hastings student! With more than 96 languages spoken here, communication is critical and a beautiful gift. Inside the classroom and outside the school, we should encourage discussion and writing to strengthen the ability of our students to communicate their ideas in our global community!
