DR. MAYS’ WEEK AHEAD An Update from Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays

October 15, 2024
Dr. Mays

I hope that our fall break allowed everyone to recharge their batteries. Self-care is vital to meet the needs of our students. Our students need us at our best to help support them as they work to maximize their potential. While last week was short, I enjoyed visiting Hastings 9th Grade Center and Principal Price to witness their dynamic systems and all they do to ensure that our students are growing and learning. All students were engaged in learning from bell to bell, and new teachers had access to coaching and support from specialists, including a model classroom.

Our college night, hosted by Dr. Alvia Baldwin, Director of Guidance and Counseling, and Ms. Jennifer Baker, Director of Career and Technical Education, was a huge success. I enjoyed seeing our students learn about all the offerings available here in Alief ISD and contemplate the next steps in their journey. Thank you, Dr. Baldwin and Ms. Baker, for your leadership and for creating opportunities for our students and community to learn and grow together!

As we close out the next few months, I encourage everyone to take the example and excellence that Dr. Baldwin and Ms. Baker displayed in their work this past week into everything we do!
