DR. MAYS’ WEEK AHEAD An Update from Superintendent Dr. Anthony Mays

September 30, 2024
Dr. Mays

Fall is upon us, and the weather is beginning to cool. The cool evening provided excellent weather for our Elsik versus Hastings football game. It was a good feeling to look out and see our stands full on both sides. The competition was high as our students battled one another. We were also able to pay homage to our Military and First Responders who we sincerely appreciate, as well as be fortunate enough to receive $20,000 in heart screening equipment [ECG machines] donated by The Community Volunteer Fire Department.

Despite the craziness of internet trolls disrupting our learning environment, I am grateful for a professional staff that works to remain focused, meet the needs of our students, and keep the main thing the main thing.

We will continue to work to ensure our campuses are safe with enhanced security measures that provide a secure environment for our students and teachers. I continue to urge everyone, if you "See Something, Say Something". Report any suspicious activity witnessed either on social media or in the community. Below are some avenues to communicate potential concerns by contacting the following:

-Alief Police Department at 281-498-3542/ police@aliefisd.net

-Houston Police Department Westside at 832-394-5600

-Crime Stoppers at 713-521-4600, or 911.

-Contact Alief ISD

Our recent golf tournament was an outstanding success, not only meeting but significantly surpassing our original goal of raising $70,000. Thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved, we were able to raise an impressive total of $99,000. A special recognition to our PR Specialist and Education Foundation liaison, Li Wen Su, whose dedication and strategic efforts were key to achieving a remarkable outcome. From securing sponsorships to coordinating event details, her contributions were instrumental in making this event a resounding success.
