TIA

REMINDER!

Don't forget to take a look at TIA Tuesdays, our monthly newsletter for all the latest updates about TIA in Alief!

Teacher Incentive Allotment

As we gear up for the upcoming school year, I wanted to provide you with an update on the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) and what to expect for the 2024-25 school year. This year, we will be simultaneously wrapping up the 2023-24 Designation Cycle and conducting the 2024-25 Data Capture Year.

Alief is entering its second designation cycle for data captured during the 2023-24 school year, with the data being submitted via application to TEA in October 2024. We expect to receive a final approval notification from TEA in February 2025. If our system is approved for a second time, we will receive a final designation and allotment notification in April 2025, followed by a payout to TIA-designated teachers on their May 31st paycheck.

Additionally, the 2024-25 school year marks Alief ISD’s third data capture year. Just like in previous data capture years, all TIA-eligible teachers will partake in TIA activities and submit data. To be TIA-eligible, a teacher must, at a minimum, be coded as 087 in PEIMS, provide standards-based instruction to students for at least 60% of their time, and teach 100% of the day for 90 days of the school year OR teach 50-99% of the day for 180 days. For a list of TIA-eligible teaching assignments, you can refer to the 2024-25 TIA Handbook, which will be released in September 2024.

Effects of Positive Emotions

Positive emotions build our resilience (the emotional resources needed for coping). They broaden our awareness, letting us see more options for problem solving. Studies show that people feel and do their best when they have at least three times as many positive emotions as negative emotions.

Research has found a link between an upbeat mental state and improved health, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease, healthier weight, better blood sugar levels, and longer life.

Find your positive triggers!

Positive emotions can be triggered by many things, including people, places, objects, and visual stimuli like music, pictures, or movies. These stimuli are called positive triggers, and they can evoke feelings like confidence, joy, gratitude, and hopefulness.
