Byran Conner, a TIA Recognized educator at Taylor High School, leads the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program with purpose, passion, and a deep commitment to student success. As a JROTC teacher, Mr. Conner plays a vital role in shaping young leaders through a curriculum that blends academic instruction with hands-on experiences in leadership, discipline, and civic responsibility.
Texas high schools offer JROTC programs through branches like the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps—not as military recruitment tools, but as character-building opportunities. Mr. Conner’s program includes leadership labs, drills, physical training, and service projects, all designed to motivate students to become better citizens. “Our cadets enjoy this program,” he shares. “I believe they know how much I care about their future and goals.”
With strong support from campus administration, Mr. Conner has cultivated a space where students gain confidence, direction, and life skills that prepare them for college, careers, and beyond. His advice to fellow educators reflects his student-centered philosophy: “Trust your evaluator. Make sure you are giving your students the best of you every day. Set goals not only for yourself but for students to achieve.”
Through his leadership, Mr. Conner exemplifies the mission of JROTC and the values of the Teacher Incentive Allotment—empowering students to lead with integrity and pursue their goals with purpose.
