We are thrilled to announce that in May 2025, 130 additional teachers in Alief ISD received a new designation from the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), bringing our total number of TIA designated teachers to 183! This resulted in a total distribution of over $1.4M in bonus compensation to our designated teachers! We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to providing the students of Alief ISD with a high-quality education.
Looking ahead, the future of TIA looks promising as we aim to continue growing the number of designated teachers year after year. This newsletter serves the purpose of providing teachers with multiple ways to access TIA information, positioning them to work towards and earn a TIA designation.
We believe that by equipping our educators with the necessary knowledge and resources, we can further support their professional growth and the continued success of the TIA program within our district. We will release the TIA Newsletter every third Tuesday of the month, so be sure to check your inbox for the latest news and information. Thank you for being an integral part of Alief ISD!
In each edition of the TIA Tuesdays newsletter, we will shine a light on a TIA designated teacher in Alief ISD. This special section will provide an opportunity for designated teachers to share their unique experiences with TIA.
Meet Ms. Doniel Watts! – 4th Grade ELA Teacher at Chancellor Elementary
Ms. Doniel Watts is a dedicated educator with 18 years of teaching experience, all proudly served within Alief ISD. Currently teaching fourth grade English Language Arts at Chancellor Elementary, Ms. Watts has earned a Recognized designation through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), a testament to her commitment and excellence in education.
She attributes her success to a deep passion for children, a strong work ethic instilled by her mother, the empowering support of her principal, and her unwavering faith in God. What she enjoys most about teaching in Alief are the vibrant students, supportive parents, and collaborative colleagues who make the district a special place to grow and thrive.
For those aspiring to earn a TIA designation, Ms. Watts offers this advice:
“Seek guidance from those who have achieved it, and always remember why you chose to teach.”
Alief ISD's TIA handbook provides detailed information regarding our local TIA designation system. Click here to view the 2025-2026 TIA Handbook.
The frequently asked questions section has been moved to our Alief ISD TIA website to provide the most up-to-date answers to frequently asked TIA questions.
NOTE: The designations that will be awarded during the 25-26 school year will be based on the policies in the 24-25 school year TIA Handbook.
An overview of the TIA system in Alief ISD is provided in the training presentation below. All teachers are expected to review the information. The presentation includes the TIA timeline and a list of changes for the 25-26 school year. There is an audio button on each slide to learn more.
A link to the video recording of the training can be found here. Captions and a language translation feature are available.
All returning Alief ISD employees coded 087 in PEIMS were sent a TIA Eligibility and Teacher Type letter in PowerSchool Records. The purpose of this form is to ensure that all employees understand whether their position in Alief ISD during the 24-25 school year was TIA-eligible and for them to verify their TIA teacher type. Teachers have until August 22, 2025 to request changes to their information.
Teachers that are TIA-eligible are in positions that can receive a TIA-designation. Being TIA-eligible does not imply a TIA-designation. Once we confirm all teachers' eligibility and teacher type, Alief ISD will determine which teachers meet the criteria to be awarded a designation. Pending designations based on the 24-25 data capture year will be announced February 2026.
This school year, Alief ISD will implement new SLO procedures.

Are you interested in being a TIA campus ambassador? As a valued member of the Alief ISD community, it is crucial that all teachers have a good understanding of the components associated with the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). The TIA Teacher Ambassador Committee (TAC) was created to ensure that all teachers have a more in-depth understanding of TIA. We are looking for one individual per campus to serve as a go-to resource for their peers. See the flyer for more information. Contact your campus principal if interested. Returning ambassadors should communicate with their principals regarding their continued interest. All TIA campus ambassadors will be finalized by August 29, 2025.
If you have questions regarding TIA, please email AliefTIAQuestions@aliefisd.net or visit the Alief ISD TIA website linked here.
